Stephen Michael Turner

Portsmouth, RI - Stephen Michael Turner, 53, of, Portsmouth, RI, passed away on July 18, 2011 surrounded by his loving family at The New Bedford Rehabilitation Hospital in New Bedford, MA.He was the beloved husband of Antonia Borodemos Turner. Born in Newport, RI on March 19, 1958, he was the loving son of the late Herschel L. and Joan B. Gill Turner.Steve grew upon Aquidneck Island and attended schools in Middletown and Newport, attending Rogers High School Vocational program. He was a 1976 graduate of Rogers High School. In 1981 Stephen joined the Carpenters Union Local 94 and was a Journeyman carpenter up until the time of his passing. He loved the ocean, rides around Ocean Drive and cookouts with family and friends. He spent lots of time doing projects around his home and walking his dog Gizzy. Above all, he loved spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Besides Toni, his wife of 28 years, he leaves his children, Jillian Marie Whittaker and Stephen M Turner Jr. of Largo, FL, his step-children, George Giannakakos of Portsmouth, RI, and Christine Oliveira and her husband Gary of Tiverton, RI, two brothers Larry Turner and his wife Diane of Fall River, MA and Michael Turner and his wife Missy of West Greenwich, RI, his grandchildren, Stephen III, Michael, Brandon, and Terrell, all of Florida and Connor and Chloe Oliveira of Tiverton and George Jr., of Portsmouth, his nephew Kevin Turner, his nieces Elaine and Sarah Turner and Samantha White and his beloved dog Gizzy. Calling hours were omitted.A private Funeral Service was held on Saturday July 23, 2011, at 11:00am in Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth. His burial was private.
