Steven Lawrence

Steven Lawrence, Jr., 80, of Barney Street, Newport, RI, passed away on May 18, 2010 at Forest Farm Health Care Center in Middletown.He was the husband of 58 years to Barbara F. Hicks Lawrence.Born in Barberton, OH on September 23, 1929, he was the son of Anna Dennis of Stow, OH and the late Steven Lawrence, Sr. and James Dennis.Mr. Lawrence was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the VFW.He worked as a baggage agent for Short Line Bus Co. and Bonanza Bus Lines for over 30 years before retiring. Then he worked at St. Georges School with the grounds crew. He was a Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan and had a love for music and dancing. His favorite times were spent with his beloved family.In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by his children, William P. Edenbach III and his wife, Marilyn, of Newport, RI, Gale F. Boone and her husband, Dan, of Portsmouth, RI, Shubie Donnelly and her husband, Fran, of Middletown, RI, Cherie L. Raposa and her husband, Ed, of Portsmouth, RI, and Stephanie M. Biello and her husband, David, of Newport, RI; a sister, Angie Hoover of Talmadge, OH; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildrenHis funeral will be held on Friday, May 21, 2010 at 9 am from Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Joseph Church, Broadway at Mann Avenue, Newport.
