Susan Elizabeth Hurley

Portsmouth, RI - Susan Elizabeth Hurley, 68, of 42 Clearview Avenue, Portsmouth, RI, died Friday, January 15, 2010 at Newport Hospital, surrounded by her family. Born in Woonsocket, RI on December 18, 1941, she was the daughter of the Edward R. Hurley and the late Arlene ONeill Hurley.Susan was a 1959 graduate of St. Catherines School. She worked at Newport National Bank in 1961 and then started working for New England Telephone throughout the state from 1963 until her retirement in 1993. Susan was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the Portsmouth Senior Center. She was a care giver for many years for her extended family. Besides her father, she is survived by her brother John J. Hurley and his wife Lisa H. of Centennial, CO, her sister Patricia A. Peckham and her husband Dwayne D. of Portsmouth, RI, two nieces, Molly M. Hurley of Centennial, CO and Lily C. Hurley of Bozeman, MT and two nephews, Andrew D. Peckham and Connor A. Peckham of Portsmouth, RI Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at 9:00 am from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 18, 2010, from 4-8 in the funeral home.
