Newport, RI - Susan Jane Smyth, 52, of Newport, RI, died Thursday, December 05, 2013, at Newport Hospital. Born in Newport, RI on November 12, 1961, she was the daughter of the late Frederick C.B. and Ellen (Whaley) Smyth.Susan worked as a Branch Receptionist for 10 years for Bank Newport, and also at Ocean Coffee Roasters in Washington Square as an assistant manager and a manager at Murrays Sandwich Shop.. She was a communicant of St. Matthews Church in Jamestown. She is survived by her sister Barbara A. Whitaker and her husband Mel of Jamestown, RI and her nieces and nephews that adored her, Melanie Whitaker of Jamestown, RI, Kristin Gouveia and her husband Alan of Jamestown, RI, Megan Jones and her husband Jeremy of Wakefield and Sarah Smyth of Jamestown, RI, her great nieces and nephews, Kelsey Gouveia, Rileigh Gouveia, Aidan Jones and Ethan Jones and her beloved pets Pepper, Coco B. Patrick and Holly.She was preceded in death by her brother Frederick C.B. Smyth, Jr., her fiance Tony Tribble and her companion Wallace Simmons.Calling hours will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2013, from 10:00-11:00am in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with her service to follow at 11:00am.Burial will be in Cedar Cemetery, Jamestown.In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Savealabrescue.org as they help save many dogs all over the US including here in Newport.
