Jamestown, RI - Susan Anne Trainor Hall, 50, of Conanicus Ave, Jamestown, RI, died unexpectedly on Friday, July 11, 2008 at her home in Jamestown, RI. Born in Providence, RI on October 26, 1957, she was the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth Gerhart Trainor of Middletown. Susan grew up on Aquidneck Island and graduated from Middletown High School in 1975. She attended the University of Kansas on a scholastic scholarship and graduated with honors in 1971 with a BA degree major in Journalism and a minor in Science. Susan continued to live in Kansas for several years where she was originally employed by the May Company and finally the Kansas Lung Association, for whom she was instrumental in founding a summer day camp for children suffering with asthma. She returned to Rhode Island over 15 years ago and worked for several Aquidneck Island contractors in support of local Defense programs. She enjoyed gardening and volunteering at local soup kitchens in her spare time. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her grandmother Emma Trainor of East Providence, RI, a longtime companion Bruce Pike of Newport, RI, three sisters Claire Mey of Middletown, RI, Donna Witkowski of Laguna Niguel, CA, and Deborah Viana of Naples, FL, and two brothers Michael Trainor of Jacksonville, FL, and Daniel Trainor of Aliso Viejo, CA, as well as many nieces and nephews. Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 17, at 9:00am in St. Lucys Catholic Church, Middletown RI. Burial services will be private in St. Columbas Catholic Cemetery, Middletown. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Pauls United Methodist Church Soup Kitchen, 12 Marlborough Street, Newport RI 02840.
