Thaddeus "Ted" Makuch

Somerset, MA - Thaddeus Makuch, 84, a 60 year resident of Crestview Avenue in Somerset, and formerly of Fall River, died Saturday, January 25, 2014, at the Evergreen House Health Center. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara Louise (Thomas) Makuch, with whom he spent 56 years of his life. Born in Fall River, MA, he was the son of the late John and Jozefa (Hayden) Makuch. He graduated from Durfee High School in 1948 and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked as a meat cutter before retiring at the age of 70. He also served as a volunteer firefighter for the town of Somerset.He was a loving father to his six children, enjoyed spending time at the Westport Harbor and Grinnell's Beach, enjoyed fishing, loved the Red Sox, and was always up for a trip to the casino!He is survived by his six children: Gary Makuch and his wife Colleen of Acushnet, MA, Glenn Makuch of Florida, John Makuch and his wife Lorraine of Swansea, MA, Jason Makuch and his companion Jill Eaton of Swansea, MA, Thaddeus Makuch and his wife Susan of Somerset, MA, and his daughter Rebecca Duarte of Florida. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. He was the twin brother to the late Edward Makuch and was also preceded in death by his brothers, Frank Makuch, Walter Makuch, Stanley Makuch, and John Makuch.Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, from 5:00-8:00pm, in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.
