Theodore A. Swetnam, Sr

New Bedford, MA - Theodore A. Swetnam, Sr., 60, of Arnold Street, New Bedford, died Thursday, December 4, 2008 at St. Lukes Hospital, New Bedford, MA. Born in Newport, RI on June 16, 1948, he was the son of Josephine Antone Fields of Newport and the late George W. Swetnam.Teddy served his country honorably in the United States Army and received the Purple Heart for injuries received in the Vietnam War. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. Teddy was a hard working man, giving many years of service to United Front Homes and the City of New Bedford. Teddy was a loving father and grandfather. In addition to his mother, he leaves his longtime companion Minga Pina of New Bedford, his children Paul E. Gallagher and his wife Jackie of Jersey City, NJ, David Sincere Gallagher of Newport, RI, Troy-Allen Enos and his wife Michelle of East Taunton, MA, Desiree N. Gray and her husband Damon of New Bedford, MA, and Theodore A. Swetnam Jr. and his companion Kyla of New Bedford, MA; two brothers Robert P. Fields of Newport, RI and Shelton R. Fields of Dallas, TX; a sister Barbara A. Jenkins of Middletown, RI; seventeen grandchildren and one great grandchild. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at 11:00am in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway Newport, RI.Calling hours will be held Tuesday, December 9, 2008 from 4 - 8 pm in the funeral home.
