Newport, - Theodore T. Jones, 71, of 18 Hall Avenue Newport, died Monday, April 21, 2003 at Heatherwood Nursing And Subacute Center Newport, RI.He was the husband of Jean P. Barrows Jones. Born in Atlantic City, NJ on May 17, 1931, he was the son of the late Harriett Smith Jones. He resided in Newport since the age of 4.Mr. Jones was a Past Master of Stone Mill Lodge #3, P.H.A., where he was also Chairman of the Thanksgiving Baskets for the needy. He also served many years on assorted committees of the Pyramid Club of Stone Mill Lodge. Mr. Jones was a veteran of the Korean War. Very active, he served on the school committee, the Naval Base and also worked for New Visions which employed youths in a C.E.T.A. Program. He sponsored and coached basketball teams at the Martin Luther King Center and the Hut Recreation Center. He retired from Polo Cleaners. Besides his wife he is survived by three sons Bennie Jones of Methuen, MA, Theodore L. Jones of Middletown, RI, and Terance M. Jones of Newport, RI, his brother Kenneth Jones of Newark, NJ, three step daughters Kai Cameron of Providence, RI, Carla Chew of Baltimore, MD, and Lisa Square of Lanham, MD, fifteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. His funeral will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2003, at 11:00 AM in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.
