Theresa Antoinette Sleeper

Theresa A. Brodeur Sleeper Newport, RI - Theresa A. Brodeur Sleeper, 85, of 8 Battery Street, Newport, RI, died Sunday, March 22, 2009 at home.She was the wife of the late Frederick Warren Sleeper. Born in Fall River, MA, on January 7, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Antoinette Gelinas Brodeur.Mrs. Sleeper had worked for the former GE Monowatt Plant in Newport and then in the accounting department at the commissary on the Newport Naval Base for 8 years. She was a member of the Edward King House and was very active with the Boy Scouts of America on the training staff for the Newport Council. Mrs. Sleeper enjoyed playing cards and bocce. She is survived by three sons Frederick Sleeper of Newport, RI, Donald James Sleeper of Middletown, RI, and Gerald W. Sleeper of Sturgis, SD, a brother Armand Brodeur of Tiverton, RI, three sisters Beatrice Ouellette of Whitinsville, MA, Doris Helger of Tiverton, RI, and Germaine Brodeur of Wentzville, MO, two grandchildren Faith and Patrick Sleeper, and one great grandchild Jason Sleeper. She was also the sister of the late Gerard Brodeur, Albert Brodeur, Alfred Brodeur, Rose Teal, Julliette Conway, and Louise Brodeur.Her funeral will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2009, at 8:00 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in St. Josephs Church, Broadway and Mann Avenue, Newport.Burial will be private.Calling hours will be held Friday, March 27, 2009, from 4-8 pm in the Memorial Funeral Home.Memorial donations may be made to Hospice at Visiting Nurse Service of Newport and Bristol Counties 1184 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
