Theresa L. Gibau DeCostaNEWPORT, RI - Theresa L. Gibau DeCosta, 72, of 33 Beacon Court, Newport, RI, died Saturday, September 3, 2005, at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. Born in Portsmouth, RI, on October 28, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Antone and Irene Medeiros Gibau. Mrs. DeCosta had worked as a tester at the former Transcom in Portsmouth. She had also worked as a homemaker for Child and Family Services of Newport. Mrs. DeCosta was a gifted quilt maker. She is survived by two sons Alfred L. DeCosta Jr., and his wife June M. of Nashua, NH, and Robert DeCosta of Newport, RI, three daughters Kathleen A. Owens of Portsmouth, RI, Marie VanVelzer and her husband Warren of Newport, RI, and Joanne L. DeCosta of Newport, RI, a brother Alfred Gibau of Woonsocket, RI, a sister Helen Pushwal and her husband Clyde of Baltimore, MD, and seven grandchildren Marie Owens of San Francisco, CA, Patrick D. Owens of Ann Arbor, MI, Stephen Tetzloff of Newport, RI, Jason Tetzloff of San Diego, CA, Laura DeCosta Nashua, NH, Amy Machado Newport, RI, and Mark Machado Newport, RI. She was also the grandmother of the late Michael Dylan DeCosta and Marrissa Lynn DeCosta. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2005, at 10:00 AM in the Chapel at Newport Memorial Park, Howland Avenue, Middletown. Calling hours are omitted.
