Theresa A. Martin Zocco

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Theresa A. Martin Zocco, 85, of East Hartford, Connecticut. She passed away with her family by her side at Brookdale Sakonnet Bay in Tiverton, RI, on August 8, 2024.

Theresa is survived by her children Lorene (Scot) Hayden of CT, Cheryl (James) Cook of RI, and her grandchildren; Nicole (Jason) Serio of CO, Alex (Ashley) Hayden of CT, Megan (Grady) Cook-Zieglowsky of CA, and Ben Hayden and his partner Estef of CT; and two great-grandchildren, Oliver and Kathryn Hayden.

Born in The Bronx, NY, on December 25, 1938, she was the daughter of the late John Martin and June (Erickson) Sawyer. Theresa was a long-time resident of East Hartford, CT. She was a graduate of Hartford High School and worked for many years at Valenite as an Office Manager and later at Aetna Insurance Company as an Administrative Assistant. She was involved in many charities and was on the Church Council of Faith Lutheran Church. She enjoyed traveling, reading, spending time with friends and family, and enjoyed spending winters in Florida.

Theresa dedicated many years of her life in service at Valenite and Aetna where she brought kindness and care to her colleagues. Her gentle nature and thoughtfulness extended beyond the workplace, as she always put the needs of others before her own. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and was a devoted and trusted friend to everyone she met. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

Services will be privately held in Connecticut at a later date.
