Middletown, RI - Thomas Joseph Morrissey, Sr., 79, of 155 Wyatt Road, Middletown, RI, died Monday, September 11, 2006 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. He was the husband of Lorraine R. Flayhan Morrissey of Middletown. Born in Philadelphia, PA on May 24, 1927, he was the son of the late Joseph and Catherine Cucha Morrissey. Mr. Morrissey worked for 28 years as a master diver for the Federal Defense, retiring in 1972 He was a member of the VFW and DAV in Middletown. Besides his wife he is survived by his children George J. Morrissey of No. Hampton, NH, Charles N. Morrissey of Middletown, RI, Al J. Morrissey of Plymouth, MA, Michael J. Morrissey of Middletown, RI, John J. Morrissey of Pawtucket, RI, Thomas J. Morrissey III of East Taunton, MA, Toni E. Amberg of Sparta, NJ and Catherine L. Marshall of Shrewsbury, MA, and nine grandchildren. He was the father of the late Thomas J. Morrissey. His funeral will be held on Friday, September 15, 2006, at 9:00am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in the Chapel of Hope, Naval Stations, Newport. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter.Calling hours are omitted.
