Thomas Lane Pierce

Newport, RI - Thomas Lane Pierce, 76, of 66 Girard Avenue, Newport, RI, formerly of 20 Berkeley Avenue, Newport, died Sunday, December 30, 2007 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI, after a long illness. He was the husband of Hazel Clark Boyd Pierce. Born in Shrevesport, LA on April 7, 1931, he was the son of the late James and Thelma Kidd Pierce.Mr. Pierce served in the United States Navy for 21 years, retiring in 1969. During that time he served in Korean War. He worked at the Naval Base for 18 years as a rigger. He was a member of Community Baptist Church, the VFW Post 4487, Masonic Lodge where he served as Past Worshipful Master, and the Fleet Reserve Branch 19. Mr. Pierce loved to cook and was a sports enthusiast. Besides his wife he is survived by, his children, Thomas Pierce, Jr., of Long Beach, CA, David Lane Pierce of Newport, RI, Jean Thelma Pete of Palm Dale, CA, Deborah Pierce of Newport, RI and Paulette Pierce of San Diego, CA, his stepchildren Michael Boyd of St. Augustine, FL, Patricia Cormier of Long Beach, CA, Joyce Barnett of San Diego, CA, Cynthia Garris of St. Augustine, FL and Deborah Boyd of Newport, RI, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
