Thomas P. Nunes

Thomas Nunes, 51, of Middletown died Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at home.Born in Newport, he was the son of Elsie (Taylor) Nunes of Middletown and the late Manuel A. Nunes.Tom grew up in Middletown and graduated from Middletown High School. He graduated from URI with a Bachelors of Science Degree. Tom worked for SAIC for a short time and several other technical jobs in the area. He enjoyed collecting stamps and rebuilding antique radios. Tom also loved airplanes, airplane history and never missed an airshow.Besides his mother he leaves a brother Christopher Nunes of Westchester County, NY and two sisters, Debbie Nunes of Smithfield, RI and Susan Nunes of Atlanta, GA. Tom also leaves his uncle Thomas Plymesser of Wakefield, RI and aunts Bonnie Nunes of Minnesota, and Margaret Taylor and Edie Land of the United Kingdom; as well as many cousins including those in the US: Kenny and Donald Plymesser, Ken and Richard Nunes, Patty Elsing, Linda Cuddington, Nancy Helstrom, and several in the U.K. including: Peter Land, Rosemary Harrison, Maureen Wright.A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 10:30am in St. Columba Cemetery Chapel, Browns Lane, Middletown, RI.
