Thomas West Roberts

Thomas West Roberts, age 80, of Newport died Saturday, August 8, 2015, at Newport Hospital. Thomas was born on March 4, 1935, in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late M. Thomas and the late Helen (West) Roberts. He was the husband of Mary (DiMartino) Roberts for 56 years. Thomas worked for Northeast Utilities for 47 years, before retiring in 2002, and moving to Newport, RI. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed golf, and travel, particularly taking cruises with his wife. Later in life he enjoyed taking care of his garden and became quite the cook, but he loved spending time with grandchildren above all else.Besides his wife, Mary, he is survived by his daughter, Patricia Aull and her husband David of Portsmouth, RI, his son Gregory T. Roberts and his wife Aimee of Watertown, CT, and three grandchildren, Olivia Aull of Portsmouth, RI, Madeline Roberts and Thomas Roberts, both of Watertown, CT.A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 14, 2015, at 10:00am, in the Blessed Sacrament Parish, 182 Robbins Road, Waterbury, CT.
