Travis Avert Mims, Sr

Travis M. Mims, Sr., 83, of Wood Terrace, Middletown, RI, died on Sunday, September 10, 2011, at Newport Hospital in Newport, RI. He was born in Anniston, AL, on July 13, 1928.Mr. Mims was a Korean War and Vietnam War veteran serving in the US Navy for 21 years. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4487 in Middletown and the NAACP.He is survived by his wife Alba Jimenez Mims, two children, three step-children and two grandchildren.His memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2011, at 11:00AM in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport RI.
