Valentin A. Canlas

Valentin Pop Canlas, 90, of Newport, RI, died Friday, November 4, 2011 at Grand Islander Nursing Home, Middletown, RI.He was the husband of Judy A. Canlas.Born in the Philipines on February 14, 1921, Valentin was an avid fisherman and loved nothing more than spending time with his family.Besides his wife, he is survived by his four children, Lori Abat of Middletown, RI, Sue Laodenio of Newport, RI, Todd Abat of Fall River, MA and Glory Abat also of Newport, RI; his seven grandchildren, Fallon Abat-Bostic, Kendra Abat, Kayla Parayno, Linda Abat, Jordon Abat, Kennidy Laodenio and Kelsey Monteiro; and his great-grandchildren, Keegyn Abat-Bostic, Brooklyn Abat-Bostic, Jaylyn Parayno, Paeytin Abat, Aryana Macedo and William Simmons III.The family would like to give special thanks to the Grand Islander Nursing Home for their help and support throughout this hard time. Funeral arrangements are private.
