Victor August Badwey

Newport, RI - Victor August Badwey, 86, of Newport, RI, formerly of Florence, SC, and Fall River, MA, died on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Newport Hospital.He was the former husband of the late Viola Badwey and Evelyn Childers of Florence, SC.Born in Fall River, MA on July 26, 1927, he was the son of the late August and Lottie (Menassa) Badwey.Mr. Badwey served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was the former co-owner of August Badwey Sons Beauty and Barber Supply Company in Fall River. He is survived by his daughter, Susan A. Viveiros and her husband, Antone; his grandchildren, Samantha Murphy and Nicholas Logler; his great-grandchildren, Daniel Murphy and Riley Murphy, all of Middletown, RI; and his nephews and niece, Louis, Mark, Mary Elizabeth and Frederick.He was predeceased by his brothers, Frederick and Louis Badwey.Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 4, 2014 from 5-7 pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at 10 am in St. Anthony of the Desert Church, 300 North Eastern Avenue, Fall River, MA.Burial will be private.Donations in his memory may be made to the Potter League for Animals, PO Box 412, Newport, RI 02840.
