Virginia Walker Bolender Middletown, RI - Virginia Walker Bolender, 83, of the Forest Farm Assisted Living, Middletown, RI, formerly of 15B Pond Avenue, Newport, died Saturday, December 5, 2009, at Miriam Hospital, Providence, RI. Born in Newport, RI, on June 22, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Charles Brewster and Charlotte Chase Walker.Ginny was an avid horsewoman and riding instructor at the Mayfair Stables/Valley View Stables in Middletown for 40 years. She then worked at the former Crest Farm Market on the Boulevard as the inventory manager before retiring in 2000. She was an avid Red Sox fan and gardener, having received many awards from Newport In Bloom. She is survived by her sons, Robert Bob Bolender of North Salem, NY, and Carl Billy Bolender, Jr., of Middletown, RI, her daughters, Christina Chrissie B. Shepard of Raleigh, NC, and Charlotte Lollie Bolender of Edgewater, FL, her brother, Charles Skip Brewster Walker, Jr., of Paisley, FL, nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her son, Thomas Tommy Bolender and her sister, Carol Walker Teston.Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2009, at 10:00 am in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be in Middletown Cemetery.Calling hours will be held Tuesday, December 8 from 5-9 in the Memorial Funeral Home.
