Virginia Rosemary Mello

Newport, RI - Virginia R. Souza Mello, 94, of 7 Bradford Avenue, Newport, RI, died Sunday, April 11, 2010 at home.She was the wife of the late Joseph T. Mello. Born in Newport, RI, on June 26, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Manuel L. and Virginia Guieva Souza.Mrs. Mello worked for many, many years at Egan Laundry and Dry Cleaning. She was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and was known to many family and friends as Granny and Nana. She is survived by her daughter, Joanna Bradfield of Newport, RI and Ft. Lauderdale, FL, her son, Joseph C. Mello of Delray Beach, FL and Portsmouth, RI, her grandchildren, Charlene B. Noguera of Londonderry, NH, Bruce Bradfield, Robert Bradfield, Christopher Bradfield, and Mark Bradfield all of Newport, RI, Claudina Bradfield and Anthony Bradfield of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Laurie M. Udine of Delray Beach, FL, seven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by grandson, Stephen J. Bradfield.Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at 8:00am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00am in St. Josephs Church, Broadway and Mann Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2010, from 4-7pm in the funeral home.
