Walter A. Carter

Las Vegas, NV - Walter A. Carter, 78, of 3455 Sandy Lane, Las Vegas, RI, formerly of Newport, Rhode Island, died Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at Valley Hospital, Las Vegas, Nevada. He was the husband of Edith M. Rocha Carter. Born in Newport, RI on June 9, 1930, he was the son of the late George E. and Martha Carter.Mr. Carter was a 30 year resident of Las Vegas and was also retired from the United States Air Force after 23 years of service. Besides his wife of 51 years, he is survived by his children, Walter Carter, Jr., Jeffrey Carter and his wife Gina, Rodney Carter and his wife Debbie and Danita Carter, his sisters Charlotte Weston of Middletown, RI and Barbara Williams of Newport, RI and thirteen grandchildren. He was the brother of the late George F. Carter, Jr., Strawther Carter, Charles Carter, James Carter, Hershel Carter, Jennie Bryan, Alberta Monroe and Mildred Mosley. His funeral will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2008, at 12:00 pm in Community Baptist Church, 50 Dr. Marcus Wheatland Boulevard, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.
