Newport, - Wayne Edward McKinney, 67, of 26 Clinton Ave Newport, formerly of 15 Intrepid Court, died Friday, September 20, 2002 at Miriam Hospital in Providence, RI.He was the husband of the late Mary Powers McKinney. Born in Bridgewater, PA on September 7, 1935, he was the son of the late William E. and Ethyl McEwen McKinney. Mr. McKinney served in the US Navy for 30 years as a Boiler Tech and reached rank of Master Chief. He served during the Vietnam conflict. He also worked for 15 years for the Newport Hospital as a plant operator, retiring in June 2002. He was a communicant of the Chapel of Hope on the Newport Navy Base. He enjoyed spending time with his dog Fred. He is survived by five daughters Kimberly Linderme of Alameda, CA, Susan Jackson of Middletown, RI, Donna Nuttle of Jacksonville, FL, Patricia Josephine Ouelette of Chandler, AZ, and Maryann Ajello of Middletown, RI, two sons Wayne Edward McKinney, Jr. of Newport, RI, and James William McKinney of Middletown, RI, and grandchildren Sean M. Nuttle, Julia Jackson, Katie Linderme, Matthew Nuttle, Kirsten Ajello, Eric Linderme, Maxwell Ouellette, Ryan Ajello, and Nicholas Ouellette, and his beloved dog Fred. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2002, at 8:00am from the Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway, Newport, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM in Chapel Of Hope, 1172 Vaughan Street NETC, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to either the American Heart Association, Rhode Island Affiliate, 40 Broad Street, Pawtucket, RI 02860 or the American Lung Association, 1740 Broadway, New York, NY 10014.
