Wilanna Mahaney

Wilanna Stockford Mahaney, 84, of Harbor Village Drive, Middletown, RI, died on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at Newport Hospital.She was the wife of the late Sterling Mahaney.Born in Washburn, ME on April 14, 1927, she was the only child of the late Stuart and Mary B. Barton Stockford.Wilanna was employed in the Medical Records Department at Newport Hospital before retiring in 1989. She was a graduate of Westbrook Junior College and enjoyed dancing, playing bridge and spending weekends at the beach.She is survived by her children, Mary Ann Frank and her husband Geoffrey of Alexandria, VA, Susan Devau and her husband Leo of Port Isabel, TX, William Mahaney of San Bernadino, CA and Thomas Mahaney of Middletown, RI; and two grandsons, Bryan and Andrew Frank.A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 9 am in St. Lucy Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown, RI. Inurnment will follow in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Potter League for Animals, PO Box 412, Newport, RI 02840.
