Wilfred C. Eckersley, Jr

Portsmouth, RI - Wilfred Charles Eckersley Jr., 87, of 74 Cedard Avenue, Portsmouth, RI, died Sunday, February 7, 2010, at the Grand Islander Health Care Center, Middletown, RI.He was the husband of Elaine Margaret Duff Eckersley. Born in Fall River, MA, on June 2, 1922, he was the son of the late Wilfred Charles and Betsy Halshaw Eckersley.Mr. Eckersley had worked as a machinist for Brown and Sharp for 45 years, retiring in 1987. He was a Veteran of the Merchant Marines, serving during WWII. He enjoyed boating, gardening, and spending time with his dogs. After retirement he worked at Precision Machine Company in Fall River for many years. He will be greatly missed by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.Besides his wife of 67 years, he is survived by a son Wilfred Charles Eckersley III and his wife Tammy of Portsmouth, RI, a daughter Suzanne Elaine Barry and her husband Michael of Portsmouth, RI, a sister Nancy Severa of Little Compton, RI, six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.Funeral services and burial are private.
