Portsmouth, RI ? Wilfred C. ?Bill? ?Pop-Pop? Paquin, 68, of 6 Heritage Drive, Portsmouth, formerly of Wapping Road, Portsmouth, died Sunday, January 28, 2007 at home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Geraldine Jones Paquin. Born in Newport, RI on July 31, 1938, he was the son of the late Harry and Leah Delisle Paquin.Mr. Paquin owned and operated Paquin?s Service Station on Braman?s Lane for over 20 years, until the late 1970?s. He then took a job as a heavy equipment operator for the Town of Portsmouth Public Works Department where he worked for nearly 15 years. Prior to his career, Bill served in the US Army for 6 years, working as a tank specialist stationed in Germany for 2 years. Throughout his lifetime he also kept a farm at home. Bill was a member of the Tiverton Rod and Gun club and an avid motorcyclist, always keeping his motorcycle ready for a ride. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Geraldine Jones Paquin, and two daughters, Pam Ferris of Portsmouth, and Paula Blinn and her husband Danny also of Portsmouth, and his three grandchildren Jamie and Jessica Ferris, and Adam Blinn. He is also survived by his brother Harry Paquin and his sisters Elsie Lorence, Irene Hanson, Janice Paquin, and Annette Hibbad; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son in law David Ferris and his brother Ralph Paquin. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at 9:00am from the Connors Funeral Home 55 West Main Road Portsmouth, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be on Thursday, February 1 in St. Columba Cemetery, Browns Lane, Middletown. Calling hours will be Tuesday, January 30 from 4-7pm in the Connors Funeral Home.
