Willard Byron Potter Middletown, RI - Willard Byron Potter, 83, died Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI.He was the husband of Daisy Constantopoulos Potter. Born in Blackduck, MN on May 11, 1926, he was the son of the late Byron and Irma Klug Potter.Mr. Potter served in the United States Navy during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam Conflict, retiring as QMC after 24 years. He then went to work at the Naval War College for 21 years as a Draftsman. Mr. Potter was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church, the Fleet Reserve, VFW, the Operation Deep Freeze, and the Middletown Senior Center. He was an avid bowler, reader, and loved to travel. He also greatly enjoyed baseball, especially being a NY Yankees fan. Besides his wife of 56 years, he is survived by his son Ret. Lt. Col Bruce W. Potter and his wife Clancy of Trappe, PA, his daughter Carol S. Jones of Oakview, CA, his sister Iris A. Gerfin of Cle Elum, WA, and his grandchildren, William Potter and his wife Danielle of Dallastown, PA and Ashley Potter of Philadelphia, PA. He was the brother of the late Jeanette Lechner and Marbel June Potter. His funeral will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2010, at 10:30am, in St. Peters Lutheran Church, 525 Broadway, Newport.Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 15, 2010, from 2-4 PM and 7-8 PM in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
