William A. Dunn, Sr

William Aloysius Dunn, age 88, of Portsmouth died Sunday, November 18, 2012, at Charlton Memorial Hospital of Fall River, MA. Mr. Dunn was born June 25, 1924, in Providence, RI. He is the son of the late William A. and the late Gertrude (Breher) Dunn. He was married to Margaret (Crosson) Dunn for 61 years. Mr. Dunn received his Bachelors Degree from Fordham University and then served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He worked as an accountant for most of his life, first in New York City, and later in Stamford, CT. He was also a member of the Holy Name Society in Stamford. During his retirement in Portsmouth, he became very active in the Portsmouth Conservation Commission and was a daily communicant at St. Anthonys Catholic Church. He enjoyed landscaping his personal properties in his spare time.He is survived by his wife: Margaret (Crosson) Dunn, a son William A. Dunn, Jr. of South Kingstown, RI; a son James F. Dunn of Woonsocket, RI; a daughter Molly G. Dunn of Stamford, CT; a daughter Kathryn D. Hannabury of Dedham, MA; a daughter Margaret M. Watkins of North Smithfield, RI; a son Stephen M. Dunn of Portsmouth, RI; a daughter Annie D. Carson of Portsmouth, RI; he is also survived by eight grandchildren.He was predeceased in death by his son, Timothy P. Dunn, and his sisters, Marie MacCarrick, Helen Dunn, and Catherine Sepin.His funeral will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI. Burial will be in St. Patricks Cemetery, Fall River, MA.Calling hours will be Tuesday, November 20, 2012 from 4:00-7:00pm at the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.Memorial Donations in his memory may be made to the James L.
