William Arthur Walton

Newport, - William Arthur Walton, 90, of 14 Vernon Avenue, Newport, died Saturday, August 23, 2003 at Forest Farm Health Care Center, Middletown, RI. He was the husband of Catherine Hodgson Kelly-Walton and the late Constance Sellers Walton. Born in Westerly, RI on Dec. 4, 1912, he was the son of the late Frederick and Selina Culley Walton. Mr. Walton worked as a machinist for more than 20 years at the Naval Underwater Systems Center. He was a member of St. Pauls United Methodist Church of Newport. He was also a member and past Sachem of the Weenit Shassit Tribe of Redman. He also served as past Great Sachem of Rhode Island and past president and Great Sachem of New England, and was past president of the Dearfield Conference. He was also a member of the Edward King House Senior Citizens of Newport. Besides his wife, he leaves no other immediate family.His funeral will be held Wednesday, Aug. 27, at 10:00 AM in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
