William C. Dill, age 77, of Middletown, formerly of Chestnut Street, Newport, died Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Grand Islander Health Care Center in Middletown, RI. Billy was born July 24, 1937 in Newport, RI. He is the son of the late Clarence and Mildred (Tingley) Dill. Billy grew up in Newport, and worked for many years at the James L. Maher Center. As a young man, he found great joy in spending time outdoors on long walks. He has been a resident of Grand Islander for the last 30 years. He enjoyed the ceramics and other group activities there, but it was the church services that brought him the greatest satisfaction. He was a devout Catholic, but attended many different services over the years. In his free time, he enjoyed Disney movies, the King Kong movie, Easter jelly beans and Peeps, and peanuts.Billy will be dearly missed by all the staff at Grand Islander, as he was friends with everyone who met him.William is survived by a sister Jacqueline Herrman of Hebron, KY, a niece Lawrie Richards of Portsmouth, RI and many more nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Sonny, Norman and Richard Dill, and a sister Constance Broadhurst.A memorial service to be held on Saturday, June 6, 2015, at 11am in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grand Islander Health Care Center, Patient Activities Fund, 333 Green End Avenue, Middletown, RI 02842.
