Portsmouth, RI - William Charles Warren, 82, of 50 Holliston Avenue, Portsmouth, formerly of 135 Rhode Island Boulevard, Portsmouth, died Tuesday, June 8, 2004 at Charlton Memorial Hospital Fall River, MA.He was the husband of the late Barbara Secord Warren. Born in Lowell, MA on August 31, 1921, he was the son of the late Francis and Gladys Elger Warren, and the stepson of the late Alicia Riley Warren. Mr. Warren had served in the US Army as a tank operator during World War II. He had been involved in the African, Italian and Europe campaigns having survived five different tanks. Mr. Warren was self-employed with William Warren Grader Rental. He was a member of St. Anthonys Paish, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Portsmouth Post and the Common Fence Point Improvement Association where he also was a Past President of the Association for many years. He is survived by three sons Michael J. Warren of Portsmouth, RI, Gerald R. Warren of Carrol, NH, and John C. Warren of Portsmouth, RI, his daughter Patrice M. Camara of Portsmouth, RI, two brothers John Warren of Portsmouth, RI, and Gerald Warren of Stratford, CT, eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.He was the father of the late William C. Warren, and William F. Warren, the brother of the late Henry Warren, Francis Warren and Virginia Johnson, and the grandfather of the late Brian C. Warren.His funeral will be held on Friday, June 11, 2004, at 10:30AM from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:30 AM in St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery in Portsmouth where Military Honors will be rendered.
