William E. Thomas

Newport, RI - William E. ?Bubba? Thomas, 86, of 4 Bosworth Ct Newport, formerly of Mumford Manor, died Saturday, October 2, 2004 at Grand Islander Health Care Center Middletown, RI after a brief illness. Born in Newport, RI on September 30, 1918, he was the son of the late Edward Thomas and the late Margaret Collins Thomas. Mr. Thomas was a maintenance man with Newport Navy YMCA for 48 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Mt. Zion AME Church in Newport. He was also a WWII veteran of the US Army. He is survived by a sister Anna Kelly of Newport, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Joseph, Edward, George, Patrick, Catherine and Ruth Thomas, Ella Anderson, Peggy Tenerio and Patricia Hammett Munford. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2004, at 6pm in the Keys Memorial Church 36 Dr. Marcus Wheatland Blvd Newport.
