Portsmouth, - William Earl Twomey, 79, of 6 Debra Drive, Portsmouth, died Saturday, October 5, 2002 at Silver Creek Nursing Home Bristol, RI.He was the husband of Florence Vadnais Twomey. Born in Providence, RI on February 16, 1923, he was the son of the late William Earl and Lucy Higgins Twomey.Mr. Twomey had worked for the former New England Tell and Tell as an istaller for 20 years, retiring in 1968. He was a Veteran of the US Navy, serving during WWII and the Invasion of the Marshall Islands, retiring as Chief Warrant Officer 4. Mr. Twomey was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons William Edward Twomey of Seattle, WA, and Michael Steven Twomey of Portsmouth, NH, two daughters Barbara Ann Roberts of Plymouth, MA, and Elizabeth Ann Halliwell of North Smithfield, RI, and 5 Grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2002, at 8:30AM, from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30AM, in the Chapel of Hope, 1172 Vaughan Street, NETC, Newport. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter.
