William F. Mello

Portsmouth, RI - William F. Mello, 73, of 74 Cove Street, Portsmouth, RI, died Sunday, February 11, 2007 at Charlton Memorial Hospital, Fall River, MA. He was the husband of Lorraine Almeida Mello. Born in Newport, RI on September 25, 1933, he was the son of the late Francisco and Georgianna DaCosta Mello.Mr. Mello worked for Raytheon in the custodial department for over nineteen years retiring in 1970. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed gardening.Besides his wife he leaves his four sons William F. and Lori Bettencourt Mello Jr. of Tiverton, RI, Michael and Joyce McManus Mello of Portsmouth, RI, James and Paula Fonseca Mello of Bristol, RI and John Mello of Clinton, TN. He also leaves his four grandchildren Brad Mello and Macy Mello of Bristol, RI, Mark Mello and Kelly Mello of Tiverton, RI. He leaves his brothers John Mello of Middletown and Alfred Mello of Acsworth, GA two sisters Mary Ford and Julia Morgan both of Newport.Mr. Mello was brother of the late Joseph Mello, Frank Mello, Deolinda Ashook and Irene Bleshinger. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 15, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held Thursday Morning from 9-11 a.m. in the funeral home.
