Middletown, RI - William James Andrade, 76, of Forest Avenue Park, Middletown, RI, died Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at RI Hospital in Providence from a short battle with Leukemia with his family by his side. He was the companion of Cynthia Cunningham of Portsmouth, RI. Born in Newport, RI, on June 28, 1932, he was the son of the late Gabriel M. and Emilia Faria Andrade.Mr. Andrade was a long distance truck driver, he worked for the Middletown Police Department, Frito Lay in Fall River, MA, Eastern Toy in Pawtucket, RI, Mayflower Moving Company, Nortek Company in New Bedford, MA until retiring and then went back to work after two years and drove for J. Anthony Express Inc. in Swansea, MA. Golf was his second love after Truckin. Mr. Andrade was a member of Wanumetonomy Golf Club where he thoroughly enjoyed playing 18 holes with his many friends. He is survived by his son William J. Andrade, Jr., of Middletown, RI, his daughters Sheila M. Raposa of Warren, RI and Jacalyn J. Costa of Tiverton, RI, his sister Emily Alice Ferris of Middletown, RI, eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.He was the brother of the late Alfred Andrade and George Louis Andrade and the uncle of the late Robert J. Bobby Ferris, Jr. His funeral will be held on Monday, August 4, 2008, at 10:00am in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2008, from 5-8 in the funeral home.
