William James Armstrong

Newport, - William James Armstrong, 93, of 25 1/2 Thurston Avenue Newport, died Friday, March 7, 2003 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI.He was the husband of Louise O. Hatmaker Allen Armstrong. Born in Wathena, KA on June 7, 1910, he was the son of the late William J. and the late Jessie Kent Armstrong. Mr. Armstrong was a bartender with several restaurants in Newport. He was also the superintendent of Newport Manor from 1970-1975. Mr. Armstrong was a WWII veteran of the US Army serving in the Pacific. He is survived by his wife Louise Armstrong of Newport, RI, two sons William J. Armstrong of New Orleans, LA, and Ronald A. Armstrong of Norfolk, VA, two daughters Susan Lockhart of Norfolk, VA, and Rita Prince of New York, NY. He was the father of the late Donna Phillips. A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 14, 2003, at 11:00AM at Middletown Cemetery, Middletown, RI. Arrangements are by the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
