Bristol, RI - William L. Freeman, 77, of RI Veterans Home, Bristol, RI, formerly of Equality Park, Newport, died Sunday, November 19, 2006 at Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Providence, RI. Born in Indianapolis, IN on January 6, 1929, he came to Newport as a young man, son of the late Luther Lee and Ella Martha Ford Freeman, he was the last survivor of seven children. Mr. Freeman enlisted in the US Army and was released with an Honorable Discharge. Soon after his discharge he joined the Laborers Local 673 of Newport. He participated in the construction of many landmarks, such as the Newport Bridge, the Newport Marriott and many more local and state wide construction projects. He retired in 1988 and worked part time as a guard at Newport One Stop Building Supply. He is survived by his son William L. Freeman Jr. of Middletown, RI, his stepdaughters Tony Randolph-Watts and Tuesday Randolph, his grandchildren Lisa ?Rusty? Butler, Brittany Freeman, William L. Freeman III and one great grandson Ishmael Jamari Morgan, and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Luther Joe Freeman, Henry Freeman, Ella Louise Freeman, Lilly Mae Freeman, Elvera Freeman and Dorothy Freeman. There will be a private burial followed by a gathering at the Elks Club on Marcus Wheatland Boulevard from 1-4 on Saturday, November 25, 2006.
