William Mulvey

William H. Bill Mulvey passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2010 in his sleep at the age of 89.Bill, a native of Marlborough, MA, graduated from Catholic University. He married the love of his life, Ann Marie Wade, also a native of Marlborough, MA in 1947. He had a distinguished 30-year career in the United States Marine Corps. He served in combat during World War II that included campaigns on Iwo Jima and Tarawa and later in the Korean conflict. He retired as a Colonel in 1973. He then worked 10 years for the State of RI as a Management Analyst.Bill and his late wife, Ann, enjoyed many years together travelling extensively, dining out daily after his retirement, reading, and sharing crossword puzzles. He was a devout Catholic and longtime member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church in Portsmouth, RI. Bill was a soft spoken, handsome, and very articulate man who will be missed by all who knew him. Semper FI!Bill is survived by three daughters; Jan Berglund of Virginia Beach, VA; Paula Clark of Vienna, VA; Donna Mulvey of Newport, RI; and his son David Mulvey of Warwick, RI. He is also survived by two grandsons; David Berglund of Chesapeake, VA and Brian Clark of Fairfax, VA and three great grandchildren - Ryan, Eric, and Trent of Chesapeake, VA.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2010 in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road in Portsmouth, RI at 10 a.m. followed by Military Honors. Burial will be private.Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
