Wilma K. Luecht Lyons Middletown, RI - Wilma K. Luecht Lyons, 79, of 9 Collins Terrace, Middletown, RI, died Friday, January 22, 2010 at home surrounded by her family.She was the wife of Joseph Thomas Lyons, Sr. Born in Wilmont, MN, she was the daughter of the late Jonas A. and Augusta Hermann Luecht.Mrs. Lyons was a self employed seamstress and upholsterer for over 30 years as well as master of most hand crafts. She was deeply devoted to supporting St. Peters Lutheran Church in many and various ways including Church Council, W.E.L.C.A., Treasurer, Altar Guild and Worship Assistant. She was instrumental to the organization and preparation of most dinners prepared and served at, and in, St. Peters name. Besides her husband of 60 years, she is survived by her sons, Joseph T. Lyons, Jr. of Scituate Harbor, MA, Michael P. Lyons of Madison, NJ, and Daniel F. Lyons of Portsmouth, RI, her daughters Cynthia J. Barker of Tucson, AZ, and Kathleen W. Mello of Portsmouth, RI, her brother LeRoy Luecht of Kensett, IA, her sisters Alithia Amundson of Glennville, MN, Frances Dailey of El Paso, TX, Ethel Lea Moen of Albert Lea, MN, Verna Mae Sanderson of Clearlake, IA and the late Wilfred Luecht, Jonata Baraglia and Kathryn Nylor, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at 10:00am in St. Peters Lutheran Church, 525 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2010, from 4:00-7:00pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peters Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, Broadway, Newport, RI 02840 or to Hospice at Visiting Nurse Services of Newport and Bristol Counties, 1184 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
