Winifred Claire (Wilson) Silvia, born August 10, 1941 entered into eternal rest on June 22, 2014. She was the daughter of the late Harry E. and Kathryn (Fitzgerald) Wilson.She loved spending time with her family, especially, together with her husband, taking care of her grandchildren while her daughters were at work. She worked as a secretary for a local lumber company and at Aquidneck Medical Center. Despite a number of health issues she led a full and happy life and always had a smile and a cheerful greeting on her lips. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Newport and was very active in the CYO, and Women's Guild. She enjoyed singing, doing needlepoint, ceramics, square dancing and playing cards.She was preceded in death by three sisters, Kathryn Coggeshall, Ann Garifalon, and Joan Lyons and her brother Harry Wilson.She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 53 years, Joseph M. Silvia of Newport, RI, her daughters Dr. Patricia Silvia and her husband Dr. Robert Gagnon, Dr. Joanne Silvia and her husband Dr. Paul George all of Lakeville, MA and her son Joseph Silvia, LMSW of Redding, CT, four granddaughters and two grandsons all of whom she was very proud, her sister Betty Vierra, her brother James Wilson and many nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2014, from 4:00-8:00pm, in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Her funeral will be held on Friday, June 27, 2014, at 9:00am, from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00am, in St. Mary's Church, Spring Street, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery, Brown's Lane, Middletown.Donations in her memory may be made to MS Society, RI Chapter, 205 Hallene Road, Suite 209, Warwick, RI 02886.
