Portsmouth, RI - Yolanda F Icart, 80, of 101 Pheasant Drive, Portsmouth, RI, died unexpectedly December 24, 2009 in Portsmouth, RI.She was the wife of Roger Paul Icart. Born in New York, NY on July 11, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Nicolas and Assunta Cerbone.She is survived by her husband Roger Paul Icart of Portsmouth, RI, and nine children: Linda DeAngelis of North Providence, RI. , John Icart of Jupiter, FL, Sheree Ann Correia of Middletown, RI., Russell Icart of North Kingstown, RI, Laurie Carter of Alexandria, VA, Kenneth Icart of West Palm Beach, FL, Doreen Pistacchio of Narragansett, RI, Allen Icart of Portsmouth, RI, and Allison Atkinson of Venice, FLMrs. Icart was a loving mother and grandmother, and enjoyed spending time with her children and grand children. She was also a very spiritual person and a devout Catholic who attended Mass at St Anthonys church. She worked as a librarian for 37 years at the Portsmouth Free Public Library. Having started work in 1971 as a part time employee at a time when very few mothers set out to the work force, her part time job grew to become an enriching part of her life. As such she loved to read and always had the latest best seller close to her bedside. Her time at the library allowed her to touch many lives in the community.Mrs. Icart had great energy and enjoyed exercising and walking including participation in charitable walks for cancer and other causes. She loved the arts and attended many of the communitys arts and crafts festivals. She also had kept up with all her many grandchildrens sports events, theatre and dance recitals. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, December 31, 2009, at 9:00 am from the Connors Funeral Home 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St Anthonys Church East Main Rd. Portsmouth, RI. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park, Howland Avenue, Middletown, RI. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2009, from 4-8pm in the funeral home.
