Yumiko Kraemer, 90, of Middletown, RI, formerly of Central New Jersey and Upstate New York, passed away at home on August 5, 2024, with her daughters by her side. She was the wife of the late Ernest Kraemer.
Yumiko's journey in life was filled with joy and adventure. Born in Japan, she met her husband while he served in the United States Air Force. Their love story led to 34 years of marriage and two daughters. In 1964, Yumiko bravely left her home country and moved with her husband to upstate New York to raise their family where she dedicated 20 years as a lab technician at Harris Hospital. Yumiko and Ernest later relocated to Florida, where she found solace working in a floral nursery and knowing she would not have to endure the cold New York winters. Over the years she traveled back to Japan to visit family and they too made several trips to the US. In 1990, Yumiko and Ernest decided to move back north to New Jersey to be closer to family.
Yumiko had a great sense of humor and brought love and laughter to everyone around her. She was the best mother and grandmother. All the kids loved their "Gigi". She was sweet, loving, hardworking, funny and feisty. She loved family vacations, cruises, Elvis, good sushi, gambling, Bingo, card games, TV game shows, Food Network and Judge Judy.
Yumiko is survived by her 2 children; Diane Vitale, of Middletown, RI, Linda Frost and husband William, of NY, her grandchildren; Alyssa Trone and husband Chase, Sara Frost, Marge Kane and husband Bob, Kyle Vitale and wife Alexis, and great-grandchildren; Aurelia and Rowan Trone, Evan and Samantha Kane, Fable, Fox and Luna Vitale. She additionally leaves 2 brothers, 3 sisters, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Yumiko is preceded in death by a brother and a sister, and son-in-law, Brian Vitale.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
