The Potter League’s Heart & Sole Walk for Animals is on October 16th at Fort Adams in Newport, RI! This walk is to raise money for the shelter and its valuable services. Registration for the event opens at 10am on Sunday. The scenic ¾ of a mile walk around Fort Adams will begin at noon.
Dogs are obviously welcome but if you don’t have one, that is OK too!
The Potter League helps thousands of animals each year, not only in providing them with a second chance at finding their forever home, but the nonprofit also runs educational and other community programs on Aquidneck Island. They also run the Pets In Need Veterinary Clinic in Riverside. This clinic provides much needed affordable pet healthcare to families who need financial assistance.
The Heart & Sole Walk for Animals is a beloved tradition, and in addition to raising essential funds to support their life-saving work, it’s an opportunity for animal lovers to join together in creating a more humane Rhode Island for people & pets alike.
It is also not just a walk. There will be food trucks, an agility course, pet contests and activities for kids among other things. Registration for the event is free, but participants are encouraged to create an online fundraiser for the organization –whether as a team or as an individual. You can also just donate to the organization and skip the walk altogether!

There are also many other ways that you can help The Potter League for Animals. You can register to become a volunteer at the shelter and at the many events they host throughout the year. The organization is always looking for food donations as well.
And of course, you can always adopt!
